MALVERN Town's hopes of lifting the Wiseman Lighting Floodlit Cup ended on Tuesday night following a rare home defeat at the hands of Mangotsfield United.

Conrad Essilfie-Conduah's long-range strike in the 86th minute won it for the visitors, who will play either Pershore Town or Longlevens AFC in the final.

Mangotsfield took the lead five minutes before half-time but Malvern's Matt Turner capitalised on a defensive mistake to level matters almost immediately.

But with the game heading towards extra-time, Essilfie-Conduah caught out keeper Keiron Blackburn from long range to stun the hosts and book their place in the final.

It was an even first-half in which both sides created chances. An early strike from distance by Ashley Kendall flashed just wide of the target for the visitors and then Adam Sauntson had a similar effort at the other end soon afterwards.

Some neat football ended with a great cross from Turner almost forcing and own goal and then straight away down the other end, Simon Prangley almost profited from a loose header by Blackburn.

Mangotsfield came within inches of taking the lead as they continued to frustrate the hosts but Stuart Tovey's low effort was deflected inches wide.

Those frustrations were then doubled when the away side took the lead through Simon Prangley, who seized upon a mix-up in the Malvern box to tap home.

But Malvern were behind for a matter of moments as Turner also made the most of a mistake to equalise just before half-time.

It was end-to-end at the start of the second-half as both sides looked to take hold of the game. Bobbie Dale went close at one end before Kerem Karakus went up the other and almost socred.

Lewis Spurrier and captain Lewis Platt forced good saves out of the visiting keeper and Harry Clark could only shoot wide from a promising position as the clock ticked on towards the 90 minute mark.

But there was time for a winner and it was the visitors who found it as Essilfie-Conduah fired beyond Blackburn from distance to stun Malvern and upset the odds to reach the final.
