Malvern Town Women's surge towards the top of the Midwest Counties Football League was halted at the weekend.

Third-placed Malvern were held by Ross Juniors Women at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon in a 1-1 draw.

Becky Evans put Malvern ahead in the first-half but Ross equalised only five minutes later.

Malvern had a chance to go within a point of league leaders Hereford Pegasus FC Ladies with a win but they remain three points off top spot.

Manager Mark Taylor said: "Today was very frustrating from our point of view.

"We knew what to expect from Ross Juniors but it really didn’t happen for us at all. I feel a little complacency crept in.

"Although the changes before the game didn’t help our preparation, we still had enough to back up last weeks fantastic result but ultimately it wasn’t our day.

"All things considered, it’s another point on the board and credit to Ross for the part they played in the game.

"We’ll be back in training on Thursday ready to go again with the visit of Wyre Forest Phoenix on Sunday."
