Malvern Town Women secured their first win of the season as they came from behind to beat Wyre Forest Phoenix Ladies 2-1.

An encouraging start from Malvern did not produce the deserved reward and Lauren Lorriman-Parker latched onto a through-ball in the first-half to slot home and put the visitors ahead against the run of play.

The hosts were creating chances; Lily Power hit the woodwork and Tash Jones fired inches wide from distance before the equaliser finally arrived.

A neat passage of play saw Jess Kenny thread through Alice Meadows whose bravery saw her get there ahead of the ‘keeper to head home.

Meadows went close again following a lovely Charlotte Frost pass but she went on to grab the winner on the hour-mark when Sophie Preece’s pass set her racing through and she made no mistake.

at 2-1 it was a nervous last half-an-hour and Malvern had the likes of Rachael Henson, Emma Stevens, Amy Loader and Jen Sweeting and also goalkeeper, Lauren Brookhouse to thank for protecting the slender advantage.

"It was important for us to bounce back in the right way from the disappointment of defeat in our last game,” said manager, Mark Taylor.

"That is what we did on this occasion with a very good representation of ourselves. “A few adjustments were made after last week’s disappointing result and the players must be credited for their response."
