BROMSGROVE RFC continued their fantastic start to the Midlands Premier season on Saturday with another thumping win, this time scoring 85 points at home against local rivals Dudley Kingswinford.

Having scored 50+ in their last home game against Burton, they went a few better at the weekend to make it six league wins on the bounce and keep their position as league leaders after eight games.

DK did actually take the lead when pushing a rolling maul over the line but it was total domination thereafter as the hosts ran in seven tries before half-time.

Drew Harper crossed first and was then followed by two each for wingers Will Trumper and Tom Sadler. Rich Hance and Captain Ed Spalding added to the tally with tries of their own and with Will Harris converting 6 of these tries it was a half time score of 50-5.

The 2nd half followed a similar pattern to the first with DK gaining the ascendency in the opening few minutes only for Bromsgrove to weather the storm and then hit back with some wonderfully executed tries.

Josh Holt came off the bench to record a 2nd half hat trick with further tries scored by Spalding and Jack Tharme, all converted by Harris, leaving the final score 85-5.

Moving down into the Midlands 1 West, there were mixed fortunes for our sides.

Worcester enjoyed a final-kick win over Sutton Coldfield on Friday night in a thrilling 31-29 victory, whilst Droitwich lost by five points for the third straight game in a 28-29 defeat at home to Old Halesonians.

A much-changed Malvern side suffered a second-half collapse at high-flying Kenilworth as they went from being 26-14 down at half-time to eventually lose 56-14.

In the same league, Hereford were beaten 10-17 by Newbold on Avon.

In Midlands 2 West (South), Evesham were the big winners of the day as they maintained their promotion push with a 60-7 thrashing of Berkswell & Balsall, whilst Kidderminster also won 24-19 at home to Barkers Butts.
