A WARM but mainly cloudy September morning greeted Malvern Anglers for their away day match on the River Severn at Red Roof Farm near Stourport.

But low river levels with clear water and a lot of big boats were not ideal conditions for good catches and anglers had to work hard to catch a few fish.

Although there were many small dace and gudgeon, the better weights were made up by the occasional bream and perch.

It was a bream of about 3lb and some smaller fish caught using a swim feeder with maggot bait that was enough for Richard Webster to take first place with a total weight of 5lb 9oz 0dr.

Chris Loveridge also had a couple of skimmer bream to make up his weight of 3-10 for second, just ahead of Lee Harman and Nigel Bayliss who tied for third with 3-3 each.

Paul Lane caught 3-1, Jon Harcourt 2-9, Ian Goddard 1-9, Alan Perry 1-3 and Clive Harman 0-8.
