UPTON came home from Gloucester and Ross regattas with five wins.

On Saturday at Gloucester, Sally Miles and Debbie Thompson won easily against the home club in the women’s masters B double sculls.

The women’s masters E quad of Linda Scott, Pippa Riddle, Trish Scorer and Jo Hammett triumphed comfortably over City of Swansea.

Upton double Hammett and Scott lost by just a foot against Derwent in the women’s masters E/F doubles.

Lucy Tyrell had her first girls' J13 single sculls race and performed well but lost to City of Bristol by two-and-a-half lengths.

At Ross on Sunday, Alice Jeffrey recorded her first victory in the women’s masters A singles by three lengths over the hosts.

Andrew Scott and Sue MacGregor won their mixed masters E event by a length-and-a-half over Worcester.

This was only the second regatta for both Jeffrey and the double.

The women’s masters F double of Hammett and Scott beat Christchurch by half-a-length in the women’s masters E/F doubles semi-finals before defeating Llandaff by three lengths.

In the masters F singles Andrew Scott beat Christchurch by two lengths in his first heat and then had a semi-final walkover against Liverpool Victoria.

He lost to Dart Totnes by only a length in the final.

The masters D coxed four of Chris Horne, Matt Thomas, Keith Spencer, Fergus Rooksby and Thompson lost their heat to Liverpool Victoria.

Upton's masters C double of Richard Gill and Jon Eaton lost to Kingston while the masters D double of Adam Checkley and Steven Thrush went down to Runcorn.

The masters C quad of Thrush, Checkley, Gill and Eaton were beaten by Warwick.

At Gloucester, Ed Pountney raced in the single sculls.

In band two he lost to Avon County by half-a-length and in three he beat City of Swansea by four lengths but went down in the final by three-quarters-of-a-length to Minerva Bath.

Pountney raced in the open single sculls at Ross the next day and beat Evesham in the semis easily but lost in the final to Exeter.
