THE Worcestershire's mixed team returned to winning ways with a 5-3 victory at home to Cotswold Hills.

Sally and Andrew Dare, Christine and Steve Goody, Tina and Ian Jukes, Alex Dunster and Will Jones and Joyce Duncan and Alan Smith were victorious.

Having secured enough points to keep their place in Inter County Ladies Scratch League Division Three with 5-0 wins over Redditch and Ingestre Park, the ladies lost 5-0 at Coventry Finham.

Three matches were close with Diane Meakin and Ursula Pearson coming up just short 2&1.

Cath Francis, Jackie Marks, Chris Urry and Alison Tuck are also in the squad who kept the club's record of maintaining their position or gaining promotion in 20 years in the league.

In the Jack Campbell Cup, promising junior Lauren Sharp carded 10 pars and two birdies at the fourth and 11th to record 39 stableford points.

Sharp has already had success with second gross at Brockton Hall Junior Mixed Open, second at Rose Hill Ladies Open and best gross at both Worcester Golf and Country Club and Thornbury Girls Junior Opens.

Her handicap has fallen from nine to six already this year.

Ursula Pearson finished second in Division One behind Sharp with 33 points.

In Division Two, countback was needed to separate the top three with Jenny Musson winning.

Musson, Helen Barnes and Julie Saunders all finished on 37.

Marie Willis took the nine-hole competition with 16.

The on-song Worcestershire seniors beat The Vale despite captain Andy Peet and Peter Kirton losing 3&2.

Stan Jones and Alan Homfray triumphed 5&4 and Nigel Teale and James Noon 4&2.

Tony Cox and Phil Bayliss halved while Ron Barker and Andrew Colston won 4&3 and Terry Cox and Keith Hitchcock 2&1.

The ladies lost 3½ -½ at Kington.

Scores were tight in the midweek stableford with John Wootten winning Division One on 37 points.

Graham Chatterton got 36 with Martin Field third on 35.

Steve Johnson’s back nine of 22 was enough to hold off Dennis Doano in Division Two on 37 with Peter Kirton third on 36.
