CLIVE Minett won The Worcestershire's August Medal Division One after his 63 nett matched the tally shot by his wife Debbie in the July ladies' competition.

He started with five pars but a double bogey threatened to derail him before birdies at eight and nine.

A steady back nine ensured an eight-under-par round with Andy Davis second on 66 and Andy McCabe third on 68.

In Division Two, Dave Turner recorded nine pars on his way to 67 to beat both Nigel Teale and Nigel Collins by three.

There was a three-way tie decided on countback in Division Three as Mike Day’s five-under-par back nine gave him the win over Brian Pleass and Mike Holt on 68.

On the hottest day of the year, The Worcestershire seniors gained revenge over Droitwich.

Captain Andy Peet and Ron Gordon won 2&1, Ron Barker and Tony Cox 3&1, Mike Travis and new member Alan Hickman 6&4 and Barry Caswell and Euan McClelland 3&1.

James Noon and Keith Hitchcock halved while Alan Davies and Barry Taylor lost 3&2 and Ken Willett and Tim Keates 4&2.

The Worcestershire A beat local rivals and table-toppers Bransford 5½-½ at home.

There were wins for Andy Dunster (5 handicap) and Jason Allies (2) 3&2, skipper Steve Carter (10) and Tom Davies (5) 4&2, Gez Bird (7) and Brian Kendall (12) and Andy McCabe (4) and Tom Howells (scratch) while Andy Longley (4) and Dave Tucker (9) halved.

Ursula Pearson, Jackie Marks, Geraldine Williams and Liz Gordon won the ladies' Florida scramble with 64.9 nett.

Pauline Belsham, June Jones, Jill Exell and Mo Riley finished second with 68.5.

A field of 156 from 32 clubs contested the seniors' open am-am over a four-ball stableford.

The home team of Jim Wilde, Colin Jones, Marc Davies and Nev Clarke won with 96 points.

Colin Lowe, Michael Morris (Worcester), Kevin Walsh and Roy Holyoakes (Hagley) were second on 95.

Third were Roger Hardeman, Dave Pitt, George Reynolds and Peter Dodson from Stourbridge with 92 on countback from Andy Peet, Mike Travis, Ron Gordon and Ron Barker from The Worcestershire.

One hundred ladies from across the region played the open four-ball alliance in blistering heat.

Home player Fiona Lucas with Sally Fycum from Ross and Helen Lane and Pauline Bryant from Ombersley won on countback from Jane Quick, Brenda Jones, Pauline Wetton (Bransford) and Gail Jolley (Brickhampton) on 83 points.

Di Wilde, Lesley Buchanan (Cleobury Mortimer), Annabelle Carter and Lyn Andrews (Broadway) were second with 82.

The midweek club stableford open saw Tony Cox win with 40 points thanks to seven pars to finish four clear of Mike Elston.
