CSSC Ramblers went back to the top of Paperstation Malvern League Division One with an 8-2 win over now-relegated Crackpots ‘E’.

But four sets went to five games as Crackpots went down fighting although Ramblers’ Chris Hewitt and Alan Salisbury won their three singles and the doubles.

Graham Thompson won their other set with Richard Maddrell and Colin Dolding replying.

Pterodactyl Old Boys moved up to third with a 9-1 win over Manor Park Travellers with Dave White and Graham Collier unbeaten in the singles and the doubles.

Manor Park Pumas swept aside Ledbury Lions 8-2 with Jon Dyke taking his three singles alongside doubles from Dave Hallam and Dave Knowles.

Lions finished their season with a 6-4 defeat to Manor Park Cavaliers with four sets going the distance.

Cavaliers’ Trevor Simmons and Mike Keeley won their three singles with Jim Ahern, Steve Meredith and Mike Morgan replying.

The Scuttling Gang have won Division Two by two points ahead of Poolbrook Rangers, who beat Dukes Way Dynamos on games difference.

They recorded victories over bottom-of-the-table Abbeydowne and fifth-placed CSSC Nomads.

Rangers’ victory over the Gang was not enough for them to snatch top spot even though they beat Manor Park Crackpots as well.

The league are holding a social evening with prize-giving on Saturday, May 19, at Malvern Rugby Club.

Tickets are £5 each and available from Richard Cullis, Dave Steen and Graham Collier.
