BROMYARD Town claimed the derby honours with a 2-1 victory over Malvern Town in the West Midlands Football League Premier Division.

Missing four suspended players and one on holiday, Malvern twice went close through Dave Reynolds and Lee Hooper fired just wide.

Reynolds rewarded their strong start by slotting home a pass from Rob Cullen on 17 minutes.

But the goal woke up second-frombottom Bromyard and they equalised five minutes later when Rob Woodward fired in Dale Goddard’s free-kick.

The hosts went ahead two minutes before half-time when Josh Homans broke free and netted.

Mid-table Malvern pressed in the second period and had an effort disallowed for offside before Reynolds was brought down for a penalty.

However, Hooper hit the bar with his spot-kick and Reynolds also struck the woodwork late on.

League action tomorrow sees Malvern host Dudley Sports and Bromyard head to fellow strugglers Bustleholme (both 3pm).

They also play tomorrow with Malvern at home to title-chasing Gornal Athletic and Bromyard entertaining Dudley Town (both 7.45pm).

􀁧 Malvern crashed out of a semifinal on penalties for the second time in a week, this time in the Worcester Infirmary Senior Cup.

Midland Combination Division One outfit Archdales 73 drew 1-1 at the Langland Stadium before triumphing 4-3 on spot-kicks.

Malvern did not turn up for the first-half and Jamie Insall headed home for the Worcester side on 15 minutes.

Insall and Garry Price caused problems for Malvern, who were lucky to go into the break only one goal down.

But, after a rousing half-time team talk, it only took four minutes to equalise when Mason Mansfield threaded the ball through for Reynolds to score.

Town dominated the second period but the game went straight to penalties after 90 minutes.

Keeper Dean Drinkwater saved from Insall and Malvern slotted the first kick home but Dales scored their remaining four penalties, while Mansfield hit the post and Hooper’s effort was saved.
