CSSC Ramblers moved up to second in the Paperstation Malvern League Division One table following back-to-back 9-1 wins over Manor Park Pumas and Express.

Against Pumas, three sets went to five games with Dave Hallam beating Graham Thompson and taking Alan Salisbury all the way before losing.

After the first set, Ramblers won the next nine thanks to Chris Hewitt’s singles treble, two each from Salisbury and Thompson and the doubles.

Two sets went to five games against Express but Hewitt and Salisbury claimed their three singles and the doubles, while Thompson triumphed twice. Pete Griffiths grabbed a consolation.

Manor Park Cavaliers consolidated their mid-table position with a 7-3 victory over Manor Park Travellers Trevor Simmons won his three singles in straight games and was well supported by Matt Hodges’ hat-trick of successes.

Stan Mason claimed his first win of the season, while Travellers replied through Martin Snee and Stewart Moss, who also combined for the doubles.

In Division Two, Dukes Way Dynamos took three points from a 10-0 win over Crackpots ‘B’ and are just one point behind leaders The Scuttling Gang.

John Phillips, Charlie Burford and Dave Bradley won all the sets and only Alan Forsdike was able to claim any games for Crackpots.

Stephen Lindner won all his singles sets for Manor Park Crackpots but they lost 7-3 to Manor Park Devils.

Paul Lythgoe, Liz Hallam and James Mulka took two each for Devils, who also bagged the doubles.

Abbeydowne’s Bill Lucas was in good form against Ripple, triumphing in all his singles sets, with Peter Dennis also taking one.

But Pete Nash and Roger Davies secured two each for Ripple, who won 6-4, while the latter partnered his son Paul in a successful doubles set.
