MALVERN Under 15s beat Evesham 19-7 but the match was closer than the scoreline suggests.

They were fluent in midfield and created more half-breaks but Evesham’s counter-rucking gave them the edge at the breakdown.

The visitors took the lead when Will Sandry bulldozed over but Evesham replied with a converted try late in the half.

Malvern broke the deadlock in a tight second period with less than five minutes left through flanker Callum Loader and Jack Travis converted.

With the game’s last move, Stefan Nzi touched down and Travis’ successful kick completed the scoring.

The previous week, the under 15s drew 17-17 at Luctonians.

After Lucs took the lead, Sandry scored a fine solo try which was converted by Travis.

A converted effort put Lucs back ahead but Malvern drove Tom Crooks over to make it 12-12.

A defensive lapse enabled Lucs to run in another try but Malvern showed great spirit to come back again with five minutes remaining through hooker Andy Daley.

􀁧 Malvern Under 16s returned to winning ways with a hardfought 31-12 win over Bromyard.

Fly-half Ben Londesbrough landed an early penalty but Bromyard responded with a converted try 10 minutes later.

Harry Davies ended the half by showing his pace to score.

As in the first-half, Malvern scored in the opening minute of the second period but this time though centre Charley Adams’ try.

Flying winger Davies then blistered around the defence to score Malvern’s third.

Bromyard’s unconverted effort brought the score back to 24-12 with seven minutes left before Malvern produced the best try of the match.

A powerful burst by Ben Mc- Dowell left the defence expecting a wide pass to Davies but the centre cleverly found a gap to run in under the posts.

Londesbrough converted all four tries, while player-of-the-match was Jamie Phelps.
