BROADHEATH Belters have gone seven points clear at the top of Paperstation Malvern League Division One following three recent victories.

They defeated Manor Park Pumas 9-1, Crackpots ‘E’ 10-0 and nearest rivals Pterodactyl Old Boys 6-4.

Against Pumas, the whitewash was saved by Michael Owens, who defeated Brett Brining in four games.

In the match with Crackpots, Richard Maddrell pushed Sasha Grokhotov all the way before losing 8-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-8, 5-11.

Michael Siket was in superb form against Old Boys, winning his three singles in straight games.

He also teamed up with Grokhotov, who won twice, to take the all-important doubles against Wayne Chopping and Dave White 7-11, 10-12, 11-6, 11-5, 11-5.

Old Boys’ Chopping won twice and inflicted Grokhotov’s first defeat of the season, while White and Graham Collier both triumphed once.

Malvern Tornados recorded their first Division Two win of the season with Andy Bank and Tom James both winning three singles in a 6-4 victory over Abbeydowne.

But Roy Holland and Bill Lucas got the better of them in the fifth game of the doubles.

The Scuttling Gang, with a 10-0 whitewash over X-Police, have pulled a few points ahead at the top and look set to win promotion.

But Poolbrook Rangers and Dukes Way Dynamos are locked together in second and third places.

Each have three matches left to play and the crunch clash will be between Rangers and the Scuttling Gang.

Rangers and Dynamos had convincing 9-1 wins with Stan Ginn getting just one game for Crackpots ‘B’ against the former and Will Jones winning one for Manor Park Crackpots against the latter.

CSSC Nomads were again one player short and Manor Park Devils took three points from a 7-3 success.

Tony Hughes won two for Nomads and the doubles with Adrian Fray, while Paul Lythgoe took two for Devils with James Mulka and Liz Hallam claiming one each.

X-Police had a much closer match than the 8-2 scoreline suggests when playing Ripple.

Steve Mulka and Malcolm Dalley bagged one victory for X-Police, while Roger Davies won three with Pete Nash and Peter Quy adding two each for Ripple.
