A RECORD number of entries took part in the Mud Runner Classic, the 10km off-road run held at Eastnor Castle.
There was also a junior race of 5km for children aged five to 15 which was a tough- but-fun course filled with challenging mud troughs and obstacles. This event saw 200 children take part this year.
The main race had a record number of entries, which included the first wheelchair competitor for Mud Runner. Rick Rodgers, from South East London, is a disabled athlete who competed in an off-road wheelchair, called the Mountain Trike, and completed the course in a time of three hours 39 minutes 46 seconds. James Bingham was the first man home in a time of 55 minutes 46 seconds, while Roz Viner was the first woman to complete the course in 1.06.59.
Results: Men’s: 1 Bingham 55.46; 2 John Pullen 55.49; 3 Colin Brearly 57.54. Female: 1 Viner one hour six minutes 59 seconds; 2 Niki Morgan 1.08.20; 3 Holly Blount 1.09.17.
Juniors: Boys: 1 James Southall 19.43; 2 Joshua Matthews 20.07; 3 Jacob Payne 21.44. Girls: 1 Sophie Beckingham 23.12; 2 Hattie Barnett 24.44; 3 Briony Bishop 25.38.
