BROADHEATH Belters have gone back to the top of the Paperstation Malvern Table Tennis League Division One on games difference over Ledbury Collection.

Belters defeated Manor Park Travellers 9-1 with Michael Siket and Brett Brining both winning their three singles and the doubles, while John Stalker chipped in with their other two triumphs.

For Travellers, the whitewash was saved by Martin Snee, who beat Stalker 12-10 in the fifth.

Belters followed this up with a 10-0 win over Ledbury Lions, again Siket and Brining were unbeaten, as was their third player, Sasha Grokhotov.

The nearest Lions came to taking a set was in the doubles where Steve Meredith and Jim Ahern lost narrowly in five against Stalker and Siket 7-11, 11-5, 6-11, 11-6, 8-11.

Ledbury Collection are in second place following a hard-fought 6-4 victory over Manor Park Cavaliers in a game where five sets went the full distance, with the former side winning four of them.

Harry Jutle and Ann Barnes both won two apiece, while Bryan Farr won once and together with Jutle they also took the doubles.

For Cavaliers, Trevor Simmons and Mike Keeley both won twice.

CSSC Ramblers ran out 9-1 winners over YMCA Vulcans with Chris Hewitt and Graham Thompson both winning their three singles and the doubles.

Alan Salisbury also won twice for Ramblers, but he was beaten by Shafaz Ditta 11-3, 4-11, 8-11, 11-13.

Manor Park Express came out on top in their derby against Pumas when they won 6-4.

Dave Woodyatt was in fine form for Express winning his three singles. He was ably supported by Ray Davies who was playing up from Division Two, who won twice, while Woodyatt and Ray Page won the doubles in five games.

For Pumas, Dave Hallam won twice while there was a win apiece for both Jon Dyke and John Hunt.

In Division Two, Tom James won two singles and Bill Nelson one for Malvern Tornados when they played Crackpots ‘B’, but Ted Cates was too strong for all the home team.

Cates was supported by Alan Forsdike, with two singles sets and Stan Ginn who won one, while Cates and Forsdike also won the doubles.

However, seven sets went to four games and one to five, with 11 games only being won by two points.

Against Ripple, only Ginn and Cates managed wins for the ‘B’ team, but this time five sets went to four games and two of them to five.

Bryan Gregory was the best player for Ripple with three singles wins and he took the doubles with Pete Nash. Nash won two singles and so did Peter Quy.

In the match between X-Police and Manor Park Devils the doubles clash was the vital contest.

When this set was played the score stood at 3-3 and the final doubles scoreline ended up at 9-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-8, 8-11.

After that, the X-Police could only manage one more win giving the Devils a good 6-4 win.

James Palmer took two, with Steve Mulka and Alan Holmes one each for the home team.

For Devils, James Mulka won three and partnered Paul Lythgoe to the doubles victory. The latter also had two singles wins to his name.
