DESPITE seeing his side score seven goals in their last two games, Malvern Town manager Les Jones has demanded a clean sheet tomorrow.

Town lie 16th in the West Midlands League Premier Division after conceding a last-gasp equaliser in their 3-3 draw with Dudley Town.

Now the Langland Stadium side host Shawbury United tomorrow (ko 3pm), a side four points and five places above them in the table.

Town’s draw with Dudley follows a 4-4 stalemate with Goodrich the previous week.

Jones says he is buoyed by his side’s recent free-scoring form, but admits to being frustrated at the number of goals they have conceded in these matches.

Now he has called on Town to rectify this with a shut-out against Shawbury.

But Malvern will be without defender Dale Humphries for the next four weeks after he suffered a knee injury in the Dudley draw.

Jones said: “We’ve drawn three of our last four games and scored seven but conceded seven in our last two games. It’s how we react now.

“We were only 30 seconds from winning against Dudley Town. Shawbury will be tough tomorrow.

“We have goals in the team. All we need to do now is keep a clean sheet. Dave Reynolds is doing well and scoring for us.

“We’ve drawn three games this season but, if we’d had a bit of lady luck, we would have won them.

“Two wins will make a big difference to us.

“The spirit and self-belief is still with the players.

“We have reached 13 points now already, which is five points behind our total for the whole of last season.

“I want us to continue moving up the table. It’s still not settled down yet.

“We’re always looking at bringing in new players, but they have to be ones who will strengthen us and fit in with the rest of the squad.”
