PTERODACTYL Old Boys moved up to second in Division One of the Paperstation Malvern League following a comfortable 10-0 win over Poolbrook Rangers.

Wayne Chopping, Graham Collier and Ian Bell all won their three singles sets, with Collier and Bell also taking the doubles.

For Rangers, the closest they came to winning a set was the final one when Richard Cullis went down to Collier in four games 11-8, 7-11, 6-11, 10-12.

The previous week, Rangers played another team towards the top and this time they went down 9-1 to Broadheath Belters.

For Belters, Michael Siket and Brett Brining both won their three singles and the doubles, while John Stalker also won twice.

Poolbrook’s consolation came from Richard Cullis who beat Stalker and he also took a game off Siket losing 4-11, 12-10, 8-11, 2-11, while Alisdair Maxwell-Stewart took Stalker to four games.

Ledbury Collection defeated Crackpots ‘E’ 10-0, thanks to Nigel Foreshew, Harry Jutle and Ann Barns all winning their singles, while Foreshew and Jutle combined to win the doubles.

For Crackpots, most resistance came from Colin Dolding, who took all three players to four games, as did Dave Steen against Foreshew.

Ledbury Lions beat Scuttling Gang 9-1 in a match where two of the sets required five games.

For Lions, Steve Meredith and Gordon Stables both won their three singles, while Jim Ahern was victorious twice.

In the doubles, Meredith and Ahern were the successful pair. The two sets that went to five both involved Ray Davies, firstly he saved the whitewash by beating Ahern 11-8, 7-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-4 and lost to Stables 11-9, 10-12, 11-8, 8-11, 5-11.
