Malvern Rangers 7, Wolverhampton Sporting Community Reserves 0.

A DAVE Reynolds hat-trick helped Malvern Rangers return to the top of the West Midlands League Division Two after a comprehensive home victory over Wolverhampton.

With only two minutes gone, Reynolds worked his way in from the wing and from an acute angle hit the underside of the crossbar, but the ball rebounded out and away for a goal-kick.

A pleasing feature of the game was the one-touch football played by the home side, and a move started by Dale Humphries was finished off by Bryan Craven after heading past goalkeeper Ashley Dicken on eight minutes.

Nice interplay between Paul Edwards and Craven was rewarded when Reynolds got on the end of the move and tapped home from close range.

Wolverhampton created several chances of their own and when they did work their way to the edge of the 18-yard box, strong tackles by Lee Hooper and Rob Cullen cleared the danger and frustrated the visitors.

Humphries put in a good all-round performance, supporting the attacks and racing back to carry out his defensive duties. His cross on 33 minutes was headed wide by Craven who had the goal at his mercy.

Just before the break Reynolds scored his second as the hosts went into the break 3-0 up.

The second-half started the way the first had finished with Rangers in total control.

Cullen launched a long throw-in which caught Dicken unawares and when he dropped the ball, Hooper reacted quickly toe-poking the ball home.

Ed Lyons scored the fifth as he latched onto a loose ball, firing beneath the keeper from the edge of the box.

The same player delivered a pin-point cross to Olly Endacott on the far side of the box and his delicate back-pass allowed Reynolds to complete his hat-trick.

The hosts’ final strike came as Endacott and Edwards completed a neat one-two allowing the latter to fire past Dicken with a fierce low shot.
