Bilston Town 0, Malvern Rangers 8.

A DAVE Reynolds hat-trick helped Malvern Rangers cruise into the next round of the West Midlands League Cup with an emphatic win against a spirited Bilston Town side.

Bilston created the opening chance after just eight minutes when Dan Davidson rattled the crossbar.

Two minutes later Rangers skipper Lee Hooper was tripped just outside the 18-yard box and Ollie Endacott fired in a powerful shot which home keeper Jack Hayes managed to get his fingers to, but could not keep out.

Reynolds and Endacott both went close before Hooper rattled the back of the net, but had his effort ruled out for offside.

Bilston’s Greg Jones blasted wide with the goal at his mercy, and Joe Endacott intercepted and dealt with another dangerous attack minutes later.

With 40 minutes of the tie played, Reynolds went on a jinking run and crossed to the near post where Hooper allowed the ball to run across his boot and into the net for 2-0.

A short corner between Ollie Endacott and David Lawrence saw the latter drive the ball into a crowded box where it hit defender Adam Chambers and went in for an own-goal.

The score became 4-0 when Reynolds tapped home just before half-time.

Malvern came out for the second-half full of confidence and when Reynolds caught the full-back in possession, he raced through on goal and side-footed home for his second.

Bilston’s Juliano Costa tested Ian Hill with a snap-shot and seconds later the latter tipped another fierce shot over the crossbar to deny the home side any chance of getting back into the match.

Andy Fletcher’s interception and pass put Ed Lyons into space and the centre-forward slotted past Hayes for number six.

When Reynolds was upended in the box he collected and converted the penalty for a well-deserved hat-trick.

The scoring was completed when Lyons raced onto Reynolds’ header, side-footing home.
