LEDBURY Town joint-manager Chris Powell says his in-form side can launch a title assault in the Herefordshire League Premier Division after a dramatic recovery to win their last game.

Despite being reduced to 10 men and 3-0 down at half-time against Ewyas Harold, Ledbury recovered in the second period to win 4-3.

Goals from Carl Wildig, Ryan Mitchell, Craig Kitchener and a 25-yard winner from Scott Roberts were enough to see the New Street side to victory after the first-half dismissal of Pete Boyle.

Buoyed by this comeback, Powell insists third-placed Ledbury can now look towards the top two positions, as they host third-from-bottom Pegasus Reserves tomorrow (ko 5pm?). Town also welcome back attacking midfielder Duncan Preedy after a 12-match suspension, handed to him at a Herefordshire FA disciplinary hearing, tomorrow, after being shown a straight red card in a 6-1 home loss to Westfields Reserves in October.

Midfielder Sam Dixon is out with a broken foot sustained against Ewyas Harold.

The previous, Ledbury reached the third round of the Herefordshire Journal Cup following a 5-2 victory over Wellington Reserves.

Ledbury’s home league match against Bartestree was postponed on Tuesday night due to a waterlogged pitch.

Powell said: “The boys showed great character to come back from 3-0 down against a strong, physical side. Every one of the players was outstanding. They showed real heart for the club. Eywas Harold were distraught at the end, they could not believe it.

“We scored four good quality goals. I’m proud of the lads.

“Eywas Harold are a hard side to play against.

“It’s a tight league, we’re only a few points behind the leaders Westfields. About three or four teams could still get into the top two promotion places.

“We’re starting to come into form at the right time, we’ve not lost for a while.

“We’ve got to try to nick the lead away from Westfields.

“We can play both styles of football, we can be strong and physical but also play football.”
