'MORE of the same’ is the message from Malvern director of rugby Andy Longley when his side end their year with a trip to Old Northamptonians tomorrow (2.15pm).
After being 13-7 down at half-time, the rampant Spring Lane side fired six tries in the second period to beat Kenilworth 45-20 in National Three Midlands.
Longley revealed his side held a clear-the-air meeting last month and believes his squad are now better equipped for a push towards the top six.
The impressive home win over Kenilworth sees ninth-placed Malvern on 30 points, nine ahead of 10-placed Scunthorpe.
Scrum-half Tom Longley will not return until after Christmas after he broke a hand in action last month.
Andy Longley said: “We had a real purple patch in the second-half against Kenilworth.
“The decision-making was better. We almost tried too hard in the first-half.
“We were playing more like individuals and less like a team. If we work hard together as a team, the results will come.
“The squad is talented. We had a players’ meeting a couple of weeks ago and we felt they weren’t delivering.
“Old Northamptonians will be a tough game. They are a good side with no real weaknesses.
“They didn’t play last weekend, but we did, so it’s an advantage for us. There is quite a bit of daylight between us and the teams at the bottom.”
