MALVERN-based Callie Halliday has been selected for the Great Britain freestyle kayak squad.
The 16-year-old, whose favourite discipline is canoe slalom, decided to have a go at competitive freestyle in order to access more challenging white water courses.
Her aim was to improve her ability in this form which would then help with the slalom.
She entered the Great Britain selection process and, after being placed third in the junior women, Halliday has been selected as part of the Great British squad for the next 12 months.
Although Halliday has her sights set on getting national recognition in canoe slalom, the coaching that she will receive from the national freestyle coaches can only help achieve her ambitions.
