DAVE Robins says his Malvern side will relish their home National Three Midlands derby clash with third-placed Bromsgrove tomorrow (ko 3pm) after they had a boost to their survival bid.

Malvern go into the crunch clash with Bromsgrove buoyed by a 37-16 victory over already-relegated Bedford Athletic but Robins accepts his side face a far tougher test tomorrow.

Bromsgrove have taken the division by storm this season after gaining promotion from Midlands Two (West) but Robins says, with a bumper gate at Spring Lane, his injury-hit side could pull off what would be a shock result.

Scrum-half James Southall has been ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining ankle ligament damage in the Bedford win. He is replaced by David Hadkiss. Number eight Jay Martin will also be on the sidelines for the rest of the campaign with a broken leg.

Captain Philip Rawle broke his nose at Bedford but is set to start tomorrow.

Tom Longley returns to strengthen the back line and Richard Fleming switches from full-back to centre.

Dominic Murphy returns at loosehead prop after missing the last couple of games due to a shoulder injury.

Robins said: “It’s the local derby for us. Both clubs will relish the prospect. It will bring the biggest gate of the season at Spring Lane. Bromsgrove have been on fire this season. They will come here full of confidence.

“We have a goal of survival still in front of us. We have four league games left and all four of the teams are currently in the top five.”
