Coleshill Town 7, Malvern Town 1.

MALVERN Town were forced to field a young side in this Aspire Football Alliance clash and returned home after a drubbing.

Malvern were without captain Paul Edwards, who with the suspended Bryan Craven were away and keeper Lewis Skyers who was playing with the England blind team.

Paul Ireland and Ashley Pardoe (both flu), Craig Williams and Craig Brown injured, and Mike Rhodes were all missing.

Coleshill took the lead in the 14th minute when Malvern goalkeeper Barry McLean saved the original shot.

But the rebound found Chris Gummery who tapped it in.

In the 26th minute Marvin Johnson grabbed the first of his hat-trick after the ball had been played across the box.

The goal came after Malvern had been appealing that two players believed to be offside when the original ball had been played upfield.

Malvern were unable to get their flowing football going and were guilty of giving the ball away but the one time they got it together led to Malvern’s only goal.

Mason Mansfield threaded a wonderful ball through to Craig Selby and keeper Craig Johnson could only parry his shot and it fell to Conor O’Callaghan who rifled the ball home.

Malvern were pushing for the equaliser before the halftime break but Coleshill then broke free and the impressive Matty Robinson scored just before the break.

This third goal knocked the stuffing out of Malvern.

The visitors kept the scoreline at 3-1 until the 65th minute.

But then two goals from Johnson added to Malvern’s misery. His second in the 76th minute saw Johnson tap home a right-wing cross.

Gummery grabbed his second of the game with three minutes left and Robinson got the seventh and his second in injury-time with Malvern just wishing for the whistle to bring play to an end.

Malvern are not playing on Boxing Day but travel to Westfields on Monday, December 28 (ko 1pm).

However, Malvern are extending a helping hand to Malvern Rangers by hiring their ground to them so they can entertain Tenbury in the West Midlands (Regional) League Division Two (ko 1.30pm), with a £2 admission. Malvern entertain Highgate United on Saturday, January 2 (ko 3pm).
