Malvern Town 1, Tipton Town 1.

MALVERN Town suffered late heartache for the second week running in Aspire Midland Alliance as they conceded another late equaliser.

Malvern started brightly and after only two minutes Mike Rhodes’ shot was cleared off the line by Ross Brown after good work down the left.

Chris Palmer’s side continued to press and it was no surprise when they took the lead after 18 minutes.

Ther hosts’ corner was headed by Paul Ireland and cleared off the line and came out to Paul Edwards just outside the area who rifled the ball into the back of the net.

It was definitely Malvern’s first-half and they continued to dominate.

Six minutes later Craig Carter headed the ball and his effort went just wide following good movement between Ryan Clarke and Conor O’Callaghan.

Fourth-placed Tipton’s first shot came after 25 minutes when Nathan Jones’s shot was tipped over the bar by Lewis Skyers in the Malvern goal.

In the 38th minute Bryan Craven played a wonderful through-ball to Carter but his shot went just wide of the post.

The second-half saw Tipton in a more aggressive mood following the half-time team talk as the older players asserted themselves against Malvern’s youngsters.

After 60 minutes, Ashley Pardoe cleared off the line following a Tipton corner and 10 minutes later they shot wide of the post.

The final 15 minutes saw Skyers at his best and Tipton piled on the pressure to get the equaliser and he brought off some fine saves, diving full length to deflect one shot and finger-tipping other shots over the bar, and saving one with his feet.

Just as Malvern were hoping they had managed to hold onto the win as they went into time added on, Tipton earned a corner and the ball was cleared to substitute Chris Turner for him to fire home.

Malvern saw out the remaining minute but were thankful when the final whistle blew.

Speaking on the draw, Palmer said: “It was a cruel blow to miss out on a win but Tipton deserved a point in the end. They played well in the second-half.

“Lewis Skyers made a couple of good saves so I can’t have any complaints but our lads deserved more for their effort.

“We’ve been robbed two weeks running now.”
