MALVERN Town manager Chris Palmer has praised his young guns after watching his side’s remarkable recovery to grab a point last weekend.

The Langland Stadium side’s boss made a triple subsititution at half-time at Friar Lane and Epworth in their latest Aspire Midland Alliance after his side found themselves 3-0 down.

But the move had the desired effect as his charges fought back to grab a point in a dramatic 3-3 draw where Kyle Knott went off injured late on.

Palmer believes youth team players including Craig Carter, Joe Kings, Mason Mansfield and Ryan Robbins signal a bright future for the club and plans to field them at Barwell tomorrow (ko 3pm).

This clash comes 48 hours after the youth team hosted Notts County in the FA Youth Cup last night (Thursday).

Central midfielder Craig Brown, who has previously played for Worcester City, has signed for Town.

Bryan Craven starts a three-match ban tomorrow but striker Stuart Gates is back after being sidelined by a cut to a foot. Fellow frontman Alex Taffe is still out due to a broken hand.

Palmer said: “I didn’t know what to do, or where to turn at half-time on Saturday.

“We had all of the emotions of football at Friar Lane. The fact that we can’t seem to defend hit home big time.

“But the three substitutions at half-time turned the game around for us.

“We finished the game with four of the youth team on the pitch and they are good players.

“We had a go in the second-half and we could have won it.”
