Bromyard 167-7, Worcester Nomads 168-8.

FOUR wickets from Liam O’Driscoll followed by a glorious unbeaten century saw Worcester Nomads to a four-wicket win against visitors Bromyard.

Put in on a flat but dampish pitch, Bromyard found runs hard to find against the accurate Damon Gariff.

He dismissed Kevin Smith (13) and Edd Oliver (16) but Ashley Bullock took root.

Eventually Bullock perished, run out by a magnificent throw from Gariff, for a hard-fought 43. Then O’Driscoll took over.

He had Bromyard captain Zahid Saeed caught behind for nought in his first over and struck regularly after that, finishing with 4-24, as Bromyard closed on 167-7.

Saeed, bowling with hostility, took out opener Jon Inglis and then Guy Davies, both without scoring.

Skipper Dannie Rees joined O’Driscoll and these two put on 77 until Rees perished for 15. O’Driscoll, driving powerfully and hooking anything short, swept to a century, hitting 15 fours and two sixes, as wickets fell regularly at the other end to Saeed.

When the target was reached, O’Driscoll was unbeaten on 108 and Saeed had taken 5-90.

Nomads Seconds travelled to Belbroughton in Crusader Worcestershire League Division One (Second XI) and came away with a hard-fought, yet enjoyable, losing draw and seven points.

On what was always going to be a tricky batting wicket, Nomads captain Andy Leach was happy to win the toss and asked the home team to bat.

When Richard Meese (6) was caught by Roger Dixon in the second over off the bowling of Matthew Ormerod, quickly followed by Harris (7) and Andrew Mackenzie (9) out at 33-3 Belbroughton looked shaken.

Then Gillis and Pardoe dug in, being watchful against the spin of Nicholas Lloyd and Thompson before starting to cut loose as their innings progressed.

Gillis eventually fell for an excellent 76, superbly caught by Dean Sanders off the bowling of Thompson. Belbroughton captain Tom Raybould then entered the arena, and batted superbly with Pardoe launching some hard-hitting blows.

Both were not out at the end, Pardoe on 82 and Raybould on 56, finishing the innings at 253-6.

Ormerod and Thompson both picked up two wickets apiece.

In reply, Nomads got off to a steady start but lost regular wickets.

Dean Oliver stood firm at one end while Jones, Sanders and John Leach all perished leaving Nomads at 43-3.

Ormerod then batted well with the watchful Oliver to take the score to 107 before Ormerod (31) was caught behind off the bowling of Spells.

At this point the run chase looked unlikely, and a new total of 190 to secure the losing draw points seemed a more realistic target.

Sanders contributed well with 26, and when Oliver finally fell for 60, it was left to Dixon (11no) and Tom Marsh to hit the needed runs to finish the innings at 191-9.

The experienced John Raybould was the main wicket-taker with 4-46.
