MALVERN director of rugby David Robins has targeted two more wins to ensure survival in Midlands One after his side completed a hat-trick of victories on Saturday.

The Spring Lane side notched up three-wins-in-a-row with a hard-fought 21-17 triumph over South Leicester.

Malvern now find themselves third-from-bottom in the table with an upturn in form seeing them looking to further climb the table.

Tomorrow’s re-arranged away league encounter with leaders Broadstreet has been postponed after their pitch was unavailable which gives Robins’ squad a free weekend to rest any niggles and knocks they encountered in a bruising encounter with South Leicester.

He said: “We’re targeting at least two more wins to make sure we survive in this division. That would put us on 14 points but we still have to play the top three so we have some tough games left.

“However, the confidence and attitude being displayed by the lads is excellent and they now know they can hold their own at this level.

Speaking of the South Leicester clash, Robins added: “We came out with a great head of steam to build up an early 15-point lead, then let them have a soft score just before the break.

“That put their confidence up and they kept us pinned down for long periods in the second-half with a fine forwards performance.

“They are a good side up front, luckily we were stronger in the backs and our tackling in every department was excellent. “Having said that, we are on a good run in the league now.”
