MALVERN Town manager Joe Rawle has highlighted tomorrow’s clash with Woodford as a winnable game as he welcomes back a pair of old faces to his squad.

Dave Cannon and Craig Williams have both re-joined the Langland Stadium side as the club gears up for a push towards safety.

Centre-half Cannon signed from Pershore Town after playing for Malvern last year and right-back Williams joined the club from Stourport Swifts last week.

Town’s pursuit of safety was given a double boost on Saturday as they grabbed a home point off play-off hopefuls Aylesbury United and nearest rivals Barton Rovers suffered an 8-1 defeat at Chesham United, leaving Town four points adrift.

But Rawle is not only sweating on whether this week’s snow will postpone the match but also has worries over the fitness and availability of several of his players.

Youngsters Joe Kings and Mason Mansfield will be missing after being called up for a Worcestershire FA clash with Leicestershire and Rutland at Pershore FC on Sunday.

Striker Craig Malins is a doubt after he went off in the second-half against Aylesbury with a hamstring injury.

Nick Clayton is unavailable but Joe Leighton and Chris Allen are both back.

Rawle said: “After going on a bit of a run, Woodford have levelled out now and they are only just above us at the moment.

“We’ve got to beat them to close the gap at the bottom of the table. We’ve got to keep plugging away although we do have a couple of tough games coming up.”

n Town face Pershore Town in round one of the Worcester Infirmary Cup on Tuesday night (ko 7.45pm).

MALVERN TOWN 1, AYLESBURY UNITED 1 Malvern earned themselves a hard fought point with this battling display against Aylesbury.

Joe Rawle men created a chance within the first few minutes when Dave Reynolds fed the ball through to Rich-ard Jones but his shot sailed over.

Eight minutes later the Ducks won a penalty when Glen Hawkins fell over Craig Williams trailling leg and Chris Marsh fired home from the spot. The Langland Stadium side equalised six minutes later when a Jamie Hyde free-kick fell to Joe Kings and the teenager calmy slotted home from close range.

Malvern still continued to press and this time it was Dane Aldington’s turn to go close, his effort going wide of the post.

The end-to-end game continued throughout the remainder of the match with Reynolds going close twice.

Craig Humphries pulled off a fine save when the Ducks’ Kevin Mealor got on to the end of a Danny Mead corner.

Aylesbury pushed for a winner but Dave Cannon and Ben Stanford kept then at bay as Town held on for a point.
