TEENAGER Joe Kings could be handed his Malvern Town debut against Leighton Town tomorrow after impressing in a friendly match.

Kings, part of the club’s youth team, fired a hat-trick as Malvern saw off West Midlands League side Wren’s Nest 5-0 in a practice match last Saturday.

The 16-year-old striker is now in the frame to make his bow at the Langland Stadium in the British Gas Business Division One Midlands clash (ko 3pm).

Town manager Joe Rawle said: “He’s been on the bench for us up until now but him scoring a hat-trick is something for us to look at. He took his goals quite well.”

The match against the Bedfordshire outfit is Malvern’s first competitive fixture since drawing 0-0 at Rothwell Town on September 6.

It is also an opportunity for them to record their first home success of the campaign following defeats against AFC Sudbury and Stourport Swifts.

Rawle’s side are joint bottom of the table with Rothwell and Bedworth United but a win could trigger a climb away from the danger zone.

Rawle said: “They will be tough but we have got to try and win the home games. Our form at the moment has been better away from home. “We will obviously try to get the three points tomorrow. Leighton have started reasonably well.”

Town have also dipped into the transfer market this week with the capture of teenage left-back Paul Collins.

The youngster has joined the Langland Stadium side from Guiseley of the Unibond Premier and he comes armed with a secret weapon.

Rawle said: “He looks decent and played last Saturday against Wren’s Nest.

“He has a long throw on him that reaches our penalty spot, we will try and manipulate that as it’s as good as a corner.”

The club are also in the hunt for a striker and Rawle revealed he hopes to tie up the signature of a new frontman in the next couple of weeks.
