MALVERN RFC held their end-of-season youth awards day, with all teams from Under 6’s to Under 16’s being represented by players, parents, guardians, and wider family.

About 400 to 5 00 people celebrated a season of success at Spring Lane, with the notable news of securing a new 35-year lease providing an extra buzz around the ground.

The start of the day was a little rainy, but it was fortunate that the club had put up their new marquee, which provided a dry space outside of the clubhouse to present the awards.

The purchase of the marquee has been achieved with the support of Worcestershire county councillor for Malvern Link Karen Hanks who visited the club to see what a game changer having that extra outside space facility will bring.

Malvern RFC have some big events planned over the summer, including already holding an inaugural Presidents Day on Saturday May 11.

This coincided with the 30-year anniversary of the club winning the Pilkington Shield, followed by a regional ladies’ rugby touch tournament and invitational ‘services teams’ rugby 10s tournament.

Malvern RFC thanked the local community and councils for their support which they say “is fantastic”, and give a “big thanks for all that have helped keep the club a pinnacle of sporting and social events in Malvern.
