MALVERN Town co-manager Lee Hooper is hoping the fans will turn out in big numbers to help push his side over the line in Tuesday night's FA Cup extra-preliminary round replay with Rugby Town.

Malvern came from 4-1 down at half-time to lead 5-4 heading into stoppage time on Saturday, before a 97th-minute equaliser from Rugby made it 5-5 to force a replay.

The Hillsiders had big crowds for last season's FA Cup games with Worcester City and Worcester Raiders, and Hooper is hoping for something similar on Tuesday.

"We’re looking forward to getting back into action here on Tuesday," said Hooper.

"Hopefully we’ll get more great support. It was so nice to see the numbers that travelled on Saturday and the backing that you gave us played its part in the turnaround.

"As a club we are moving in the right direction and we’re doing all we can to get even more people from within the local community interested and involved with what is happening here.

"If Saturday’s game is not a good advert for non-League football, nothing will be! We ask you to turn up in good numbers on Tuesday and get behind us from the first whistle."

Saturday's game was Malvern's first game of the 2023/24 season, with the Southern League Division One South campaign kicking off this Saturday at home to Bideford AFC.

Town are back at Step 4 for the first time in 14 years after last season's promotion from the Hellenic League Premier.
