Barnards Green cruised to a comfortable eight wicket win over Wem last weekend as they drew level on points with second placed Harborne in the Birmingham and District League Division Two table.

A star-studded bowling attack of Jerome Taylor, Worcestershire's Josh Tongue, Zan Ul-Hassan and Phil Harris proved a daunting prospect for bottom side Wem, who were bowled out for 131 in 37 overs.

Ul-Hassan took the opening couple of wickets as Oliver Cooper (0) was trapped LBW and Harry Astley (7) edged one to George Rhodes.

Tongue then bowled Harry Chandler (17) to make it 33-3 before Graham Wagg and Chris Peel offered some resistance in doubling that score.

But Rhodes then joined the attack to bowl Peel (8) and Harris had Matthew Cohen (9) caught by Ashlea Brewer as Wem slumped to 90-5.

Wagg continued to provide the only runs of the innings and battled his way to a half-century whilst Tom Astley (0) was caught and bowled by Harris and Josh Gough (11) was LBW to Ben Clarke.

Tongue finally removed Wagg for 50 before Alex Ollerenshaw and Dan Cohen both went for ducks to close the innings.

Green lost the wickets of Rehaan Edavalath and Ryan Tongue but Rhodes (40 not-out) and Ul-Hassan (26 not-out) saw them over the line.
