WORCESTERSHIRE Rapids have completed the signing of the former West Indies international and all-round T20 legend Dwayne Bravo for the 2022 Vitality Blast season.

Bravo, 38, becomes the second overseas signing of the day after Colin Munro was confirmed as returning to the club on Wednesday morning.

The two time ICC T20 World Cup winner will play alongside Rapids' captain Moeen Ali for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League before heading to New Road this summer.

Bravo admitted Moeen played an influential role in bringing him to Worcestershire.

"When Moeen mentioned the possibility of me coming over for the Blast whilst we were both at BPL, it was an opportunity I wanted to seriously look at," he said.

"It’s great that it has all come together.

"The Vitality Blast is one of the domestic T20 titles that I am yet to win and I will be working hard to help the team achieve success"

The now retired West Indies all-rounder became the first player to take 500 wickets in T20 cricket and, in addition to the IPL, played in the Big Bash, Pakistan Super League, Caribbean Premier League and Bangladesh Premier League.

He has previous experience of county cricket in England with Kent, Essex, Surrey and Middlesex.

Bravo played 91 T20Is, 164 ODIs and 40 Tests for the West Indies before announcing his retirement from international cricket in November 2021.

Worcestershire Cricket Steering Group Chairman, Paul Pridgeon, said: "“To put Dwayne Bravo and Colin Munro in the mix with the players we already have in the squad is excellent news.

“Dwayne is a superb ‘death’ bowler and hard-hitting middle-order batsman and has enormous experience from playing for his country and in T20 cricket worldwide.

“Moeen (Ali) has been playing in the Bangladesh Premier League with Dwayne Bravo this winter, has been talking to him and said ‘come and play for us’ – and he agreed.

“The pair of them will also be team-mates for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

“Dwayne is available for us at least the final ten group games plus the quarter-finals and final, but that number will increase if Chennai don’t make the knockout stages.

“To have Colin for the entire tournament and Dwayne for a major proportion of it is great news, and I’m sure the members and supporters will enjoy seeing them in action.”

But Bravo is not just an entertainer out in the middle of the pitch.

On the same day he was revealed a Rapid, he also released a teaser for his bran new hit single, ‘Number One’.

But will DJ Bravo, as he calls himself, be a hit with bat and ball for Worcestershire this season? We shall have to wait and see but he is sure to get the Worcestershire supporters on their feet.
