LIVE: Worcester Raiders v Wolverhampton Sporting Community

Our live feed has now finished.

  • FT: Raiders 4 (Hussain 19, Hart 38, 43, J Stoddart 69) Sporting 0
  • RAIDERS kicked off the Sixways era with a sizzling first-half display that blew away Wolverhampton Sporting Community 4-0.
  • Zaq Hussain, Dylan Hart (2) and Jordan Stoddart got the goals on a night that might have seen many more fly in at both ends.
  • But having shipped three by the interval, Sporting looked a spent force having offered a credible threat themselves throughout the opening 45.
  • That performance was bettered by a Raiders side that may have been too open at times but played some delightful football that their visitors simply could not live with.
  • The first goal at the club's new headquarters could have been as good as anything that might follow had Hussain controlled his cushioned finish from close range at the end of a scything passing move in which Sporting could not lay a glove.
  • Remi Birch had a chance at the other end within seconds but Raiders kept probing and had a cast-iron penalty waved away when Hart was felled in the box by outrushing keeper Callum Smith.
  • It mattered not when Hussain made up for his earlier miss by scooping into the net from Luke Molloy's driven low centre.
  • Kyle Belmonte walked a tightrope when standing up for Hussain in a skirmish but he and Sporting's Trayvon Powell escaped with bookings.
  • Chances kept flowing for Raiders and the second came seven minutes before the break when Hart dashed down the right of the box and thumped inside a gap at the near post.
  • Captain Logan Stoddart then loaded the gun for number three, whipping in a cross that Hart attacked at the near post, his header cannoning in off the far upright.
  • With the game up for Sporting, Raiders generally stayed on top without finding the same momentum in the second half, Jordan Stoddart eventually adding number four with a near-post header from Molloy's corner having spurned a couple of similar openings from set pieces.
