MALVERN Vale won 3-0 at AFC Renegades in Cheltenham League Division One.

Last season’s Division Two champions Renegades had a few long-range efforts but neither side really forced a save during an even first half.

In the second period Ryan Upson fired wide for Vale and Nick Jones’ effort was tipped over.

Just after the hour mark they went ahead when Kris Bottrell found Remy Gordon who turned on the edge of the box before clipping the ball into the far corner.

Renegades appeared to tire and with 15 minutes left a loose back-pass was latched onto by Ameer Khan who slotted home.

With a minute to go Khan again picked up a loose defensive pass and rounded the keeper before finishing from a narrow angle.

Vale keeper Marcin Celmer saved a 30-yard volley late on to ensure a clean sheet.

They visit leaders Tewkesbury Town on Saturday while Hanley Swan host Bishops Cleeve A.

Vale Reserves lost 3-2 at home to Cheltenham Civil Service Thirds in Division Three with Ashley Dallow and Joe Turner scoring.

After more postponements Upton Town host Enville Athletic in Midland League Division Three on Saturday.

Welland go to Fairfield Villa in the Worcestershire FA Saturday Junior Cup quarter-finals.
