HANLEY Swan progressed to the Worcestershire FA Saturday Minor Cup quarter-finals with a comfortable 3-0 home win over Bretforton Old Boys.

The hosts started brightly with Kevin Moore and the tireless Cathal McTernan going close.

Hanley passed the ball well and Josh Hughes forced a fine save from the keeper.

At the other end the defence was well marshalled by Tom Ward and Dion Francis.

As the half wore on Hanley could not convert their dominance into goals.

Moore went close again before unleashing a powerful shot that was deflected onto the post.

The second period saw Hanley playing up the slope but they went ahead early on when Moore latched onto a ball from Jack Humphreys to score with a low shot.

The pace of Moore and McTernan caused the Bret defence problems and only last-ditch tackles kept the score down.

Moore eventually scored his second 20 minutes into the half and completed his hat-trick soon after to seal the win.

Malvern Vale Reserves were hammered 11-2 at higher-ranked Bredon Reserves in the county cup second round with Frederick Harrison and Luke Roberts scoring.
