UPTON Rowing Club's Sally Miles and Debbie Thompson enjoyed two wins at the Monmouth Autumn Head of the River contest.

The conditions were bad with strong winds and river flow with many crews struggling to make it to the start.

Both races were over 2,250 metres.

The first was in the women’s open double sculls which they won convincingly over Bradford-on-Avon by 40.3 seconds.

The second race was in the women’s masters B/C double sculls and they beat both opposition from Ironbridge and Hereford, winning by five seconds.

Upton had several crews entered for the Worcester Small Boats Head but this was cancelled due to rising river levels.
