MALVERN-based Mercian Development Academy’s under 16s played a first rugby league game against their Scotland counterparts at Wigan St Patricks.
Two tries from Callum Manley gave Mercian the lead before Scotland hit back to make it 10-6 at half-time.
Scotland eventually edged the game 28-22 despite another Manley try and a score by academy man of the match Evan Thomason.
Jamie Harris added three conversions for Mercian with 12 of their 18-man squad from Worcestershire.
Players from Worcester included Seb Dear, Torr Strange, George Cunliffe, Alex Jones, Josh Culpin, Elijah Martin and Isiah Martin.
Mason Campbell and Ben Gaubert are from Malvern while Adam Evans hails from Pershore.
