COLWALL’S Worcestershire Cricket League Division One title ambitions were shattered by a resounding six-wicket home loss to lowly Droitwich Spa.
Rivals Bromyard, who beat Hagley by 60 runs, need just four points to be crowned champions and the runners-up promotion spot is still in doubt.
Colwall need to win at Pedmore in their final game on Saturday to clinch a Premier Division place in 2020.
Colwall elected to bat on a good wicket against relegation-battling Spa but suffered a familiar batting collapse.
They slumped to 108-7 with 12 overs left before Ben Wheeler, with five sixes and nine fours in his 92 not out, and veteran James Wagstaff (34) stepped in with a century stand to lift them to 219-8.
But Spa's Max Young (101no) and Martyn Davies (89) brought up the 100 in the 24th over before the former hit the winning boundary with nearly four overs in hand.
Meanwhile, Bromyard captain Zahid Saeed (75 and 5-24) inspired the leaders to victory over visiting Hagley who were skittled for 99.
Worcester Nomads are facing relegation after a 51-run defeat at Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social and they host Bromyard on Saturday in Bransford.
