VALE event rider Ibble Watson secured team gold and individual silver at the FEI European Championships for Ponies.

Watson, 16, impressed for Great Britain in Strzegom, Poland, with nine-year-old Bookham Lodge Pennylane who has been with her since the age of four.

GB team-mate Finn Healy with Midnight Dancer won gold.

The riders competed in dressage, cross-country and show jumping.

Watson, of Childswickham, and Bookham Lodge Pennylane had been selected as a reserve last year for the Europeans in England after being second at the Barbury International final trial.

They have enjoyed firsts at the Millstreet International in Ireland, the Withington International and the Tweseldown Final Trial.

The duo were second at the South of England International and third at the Brand Hall International.

Watson has also represented Great Britain in skiing.

She will do her A-levels at Cheltenham College from next month after leaving Malvern St James Girls' School.
