MALVERN Town overturned a two-goal half-time deficit to secure a 2-2 draw at a wet Westfields in their final pre-season friendly encounter.

But Town lost keeper Charlie Weaver to injury and co-manager Lee Hooper said they hope he recovers quickly.

Craig Jones and Richard Greaves netted for the higher-ranked Hereford hosts in the first period.

But Harry Clark and former Fields striker Ben Miller levelled matters.

Malvern head to Newent Town for their Hellenic League Division One West opener on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Hooper said of the final friendly: “We played some good stuff but switched off a couple of times in the last 10 minutes of the first half and it cost us.

“We had a good chat at half-time and knew that while we had created chances during the opening period we needed to be more clinical in front of goal.

“That was the only difference between us in the first half but after the break we worked extremely hard to put it right.

“We scored two well-worked goals which was pleasing as was the way in which we kept out a very good Westfields side.

“We now look forward to our first league game of the season on Tuesday evening as we head to Newent Town.”
