BARNARDS Green dodged the showers to secure a 20-point victory at Birmingham Cricket League Premier Division Two basement boys Tamworth.

The seventh-placed Malvern side won by three wickets as Joe Crichard (45 not out) guided them home.

Batting first after an uncontested toss, Tamworth were bowled out for 121 in the 31st over.

Skipper Ben Maddox scored 31 as Josh Blunt took 3-24.

Green were indebted to a fourth-wicket partnership of 48 between Ryan Tongue (47) and Crichard for their victory as Josh Bowker (3-31) and Jason Jakeman (3-31) threatened an upset.

The match between Ombersley and Oswestry was an unbalanced affair mainly due to the rain.

The home side amassed 317-3 in 55 overs with the visitors ending on 52-4 from 21.

A second-wicket partnership of 162 between England under 19 batsman Jack Haynes (155no) and Uday Kaul (81) took Ombersley to maximum batting points but the poor weather thwarted any prospect of a win.

Bromsgrove seamers Tom Russell (6-42) and Gareth Williams (3-29) plunged hosts Halesowen into disarray.

A last-wicket stand of 22 took them to 71 all out in 27.1 overs.

Bromsgrove needed just 11.1 overs to chase down their target for the loss of two wickets after Jayden Levitt struck 27 from 19 balls.

Himley declared on 252-3 after 45 overs which left visitors Brockhampton 37 overs to respond.

Nipun Karunanyake (96no), Worcestershire’s Oliver Westbury (62) and Daniel Durman (48) were prominent for Himley.

But their positive intent was foiled by Adam Hewlett (53) who lead a rearguard action as Brockhampton finished on 151-6.

Wolverhampton’s Worcestershire ace Tom Fell hit 148 from 108 balls against Leamington Spa but rain again forced a draw.

The Premier Division One match between Walsall and Kidderminster began late as a 38 overs-per-side contest.

Walsall’s Alex Mellor hit 142 from 124 balls including 20 fours and a six.

Mellor and Shoaib Akhtar (36) put on 130 for the first Walsall wicket as Kidderminster leaked runs at more than six per over.

Connor Smith took 4-83 from 12 overs in Walsall’s 240-6 before Kidderminster closed on 145-7 from 35 overs.

Neil Pinner (34) top scored before he became the first of three successive run outs while Paul Byrne took 3-25 for Walsall.

Shrewsbury showed their title intent with a convincing performance against Barnt Green who knocked them out of the National Club Championship at the regional final stage.

The Shropshire hosts scored 215-7 in 40 overs with George Panayi (64) leading the way.

Matt Swift added 54 and Andy Sutton finished with 3-54 for Green.

A brief rain interruption reduced the visitors’ reply to 38 overs but after a bright start from Ed Pollock (58) and George Hargrave (42) Green meandered to 165-7 with Tyler Ibbotson taking 3-39.

Pollock and Hargrave were both dismissed with the score on 111 before Green spent the rest of the game blocking out for a draw.
