WORCESTER'S Aimee Monks put in a stunning performance at the England Schools Swimming Association's Summer Open Individual Championships.

Competing in six events, Monks won four gold medals and two silvers for 13 and 14 year olds as well as setting four new personal best times.

The event at the K2 Centre, Crawley, attracted some of the best swimmers from across the country.

Monks' gold medal success came in the 50-metre butterfly, 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley with silvers in the 100m butterfly and 50m backstroke.

The Royal Grammar School Worcester pupil, 14, said: “I felt really strong all weekend so all the hours of training must be working.”

The next competition on the horizon for Monks is the County Relay Championships in Wolverhampton.

She will also be representing Worcestershire at the Three Counties event in Stafford next month.
