WORCESTER club Nunnery Wood Colts' 15th annual youth tournament attracted Football League scouts.

Ninety teams, with some coming from as far afield as Essex, played in more than 400 matches in age groups from under sevens to 14s.

About 1,500 people turned out on each day over the weekend as sides battled it out in Battenhall with 18 trophies up for grabs.

Amid blistering temperatures and downpours the popular tournament proved to be an enjoyable success.

A spokesman said: "The level of football played across all age groups was really high with many of the players destined for academies via the Football League club scouts that attended."

Other entertainment was also laid on with all profits going back into the city club.

Colts chairman Darren Mace said: “What an amazing couple of days. We say it every year but this was a great tournament and an absolute pleasure to be part of.

"No small part of which was the masses of help from our players’ parents and carers giving up their time to help us deliver a great experience for all."

Mace also thanked all those from outside Colts that had supported the tournament.
