ROB Richards won Bransford Golf Club’s June medal by three shots after carding an eagle and a birdie.

Richards (11 handicap) also had 11 pars as he finished with the second best gross score of 72, five behind Ollie Walker, for a nett 65.

Stuart Wood was runner-up on 83 gross 15 handicap 68 nett with David Hunt getting 79-10=69, Walker 72-1=71, Matt Axford 89-18=71, Stuart Freeman-Taylor 90-18=72, Thornton Bridges 97-25=72 and Pete Sheppard 88-16=72.

Hunt was again in the top three in Sunday’s stableford but could not prevent Gordon Jack (10) winning with 41 points.

Hunt (10) scored 38, David Lamb (9) and Nigel Perry (8) 37 and Jonathan Hunt (7), Mark Tipton (9), and Andrew Kennedy (12) 35.

Division Two was won by Kim Barnett (11) with 43 points from Robert Bush (22) and Marshall Smart (20) on 40 and Neil Pask (16) and Freeman-Taylor on 38.

The seniors’ summer league’s second round produced a tight finish in Division One with Trevor Atkinson (16) pipping Mike Weaver (19) on countback after both got 37 points.

Chris Cale (19) followed with 35 and Terry Martin (18) with 45.

Dave Ryall (19) beat Alan Cockill (20) by one in Division Two with 44.

Dave Lindsay (23) managed 38, Ken Jones (22) and June Atkinson (20) 37 and John Phillips (22) 36.

Gerry McCurry (25) edged out Trevor Ditchfield (30) on countback in Division Three with both on 40.

Arthur Yarnold (31) and Andy Falconer (26) scored 37 and Mark Weston (27) and Bob Lane (28) 35.

LEAGUE STANDINGS: Division One: Cale 73, Atkinson 70, Graham Wilks and Neil Holbrow 67, Weaver 66.

Division Two: Phillips and Lindsay 70, Geoff Aston and June Atkinson 66, Tony Bowman 65.

Meanwhile, Bransford seniors lost 4.5-1.5 at Leominster for their worst defeat of the summer.

Lindsay (23) and Ferey Ghani (17) won 3&2 while Roger Clark (25) and David Wild (14) halved.

Falconer (26) and Cale (19) lost 2&1, Gordon White (27) and Neil Holbrow (13) 5&4, Neil Sheldon (21) and Mike Davidge (16) one-up and Wallcroft (26) and Phillips (22) 7&6 with the latter retiring injured after nine holes.
