WORCESTER Raiders under-14s have been congratulated on their title success by ex-England striker and Champions League winner Teddy Sheringham.

In a post of the club's Twitter feed, Euro 96 legend Sheringham said: "Just sending a little message to Worcester Raiders, well done on winning the league and great celebrations as well.

"Good luck boys."

The junior team, which first-team boss Karl Gormley runs, dropped just five points from a 22-game season to take the Stourport & District Youth Football League Under-14s Division by a whopping eight points.

The crown was sealed in the penultimate match at Kempsey Colts, a 3-0 victory at Brickfields prompting wild celebrations.

In the build-up to that decisive win, they had racked up no fewer than 32 goals without reply in the previous three matches against Warndon Villages (10-0), Stourport Swifts (10-0) and Oldbury Park Tigers (12-0).
