CAPTAINS led by example for Colwall as Ben Cooke and Will Bishop scored centuries for the firsts and seconds respectively.

A fine 125 from Cooke laid the foundations for a 67-run victory at Hagley which put the firsts three points clear at the top of Worcestershire League Division One.

Cooke and Nick Panniers (19) added 55 for the first wicket and after the visitors fell to 115-4 solid support from Andy Robertson (24) and Ben Febery (31) helped send the score past 200.

A late flurry of runs from Mike Gooch (17 not out) dragged the final total to 244-8.

Hagley tumbled to 177 all out with Gooch taking 3-34 from 13 overs and Robertson 5-65 from 15.

Bishop’s 108no saw the second team clinch a winning draw at home to Hagley after they scored 243-5 from 50 overs with Kit Lister scoring 64 and Simon Davies 30.

Hagley closed on 209-8 with Eddie Hill claiming 2-33 from 15 overs and Dom Bannister 3-40.

A combined Colwall thirds and fourths beat Strollers by 35 runs in a friendly.

Colwall scored 214 all out with Alex Greaves (65) and Euan Buttle (46) starring.

Strollers were dismissed for 181 as Dick Tugwell took 3-18 alongside wickets in successive balls by Stu Martin.

Colwall won in the new Worcester Evening League by beating visitors Malvern Artefacts by seven wickets.
