THERE was success at the Worcestershire and Herefordshire Lady Vets Golf Association spring meeting at Redditch for three of five players from The Worcestershire.
Jackie Marks and Diane Meakin credited their practice round on Sunday afternoon for their good play on Wednesday.
Both returned scores of 87.
Denise Codrington had no such advantage having never played the course before but still shot 88.
The top four gross scores qualified for the singles matchplay finals which guaranteed The Worcestershire a representative.
At home the ladies contested a three-ball alliance where Liz Bird, Isabel Carmichael and Helen Barnes took the top prize with 77 stableford points.
Liz Pool, Jane Flanagan and Hazel Cartledge were runners-up with 73.
There were wins for the ladies' handicap league team at home to Blackwell and in the friendly against Ross.
In the men’s vets stableford Mike Sterry bounced back from a heavy defeat earlier in the week to record 41 stableford points.
He recorded par at each of the par-three holes on his way to victory and finished two clear of John Green and three ahead of Simon Clayson.
