HANLEY Swan moved up to sixth place in Cheltenham League Division One following a 5-1 victory at Dowty Dynamos.

The visitors started well and had a number of early efforts to make the breakthrough with Tiago Ribeiro, Kevin Moore and Cathal McTernan all missing good opportunities.

Hanley’s failure to convert allowed Dynamos to grow into the game and they took a surprise lead just before the interval.

But Hanley produced a dominant display in the second period to blow the hosts away with five second-half goals.

Ribeiro had three early efforts saved by the keeper before Moore was on hand at the back post to put the ball in the back of the net following a corner to equalise.

A good run and finish by Ashley Bloore give Hanley the lead and Ribeiro was finally rewarded for his efforts when he added a third.

Hanley keeper Dan Rawlings was forced into a couple of good saves to maintain the two-goal cushion.

Another good run by Bloore set up Ribeiro to score his second and man of the match Jackson McMullen completed the scoring when he broke from midfield to coolly lob the ball over the advancing keeper.

Hanley visit fourth-placed Southside Star on Saturday (2.30pm) and a win would see them move to within a point of Star having played one game less.

Upton Town in third host leaders Andoversford on Saturday (2.30pm).

Welland lost 3-1 at home to table-toppers Sharpness in Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One with Mark Holbrow scoring.
